I think your assessment is a bit harsh and tbh I don’t think it’s lazy writing at all. Like we still have lots to learn about these characters and how they’ll navigate conflict. It WOULD be lazy writing if the author just had them get together super quickly after she confesses because that just doesn’t make sense for Mincheol’s character arc at all. Like sure, he did have sex with her, but he only consented to that under the understanding that she wanted to have sex casually to see what it was like and he obviously likes her romantically, so of course he was gonna be down to do that even if she didn’t reciprocate his feelings.
They’ve been best friends their WHOLE life ostensibly, so leaping into a romantic relationship is obviously going to not be a decision made lightly for Mincheol, especially since the author has now revealed that there’s something that happened in their past that’s been holding Mincheol back from confessing his feelings prior anyways. And plus, stories need conflict, this is just another obstacle that the characters have to face. It would be a boring story otherwise.
I do believe it’s lazy writing and cliché. Authors always do this misunderstanding arc just so they can make the story longer and have the second male lead get them together. Personally, I get bored if I see the same thing all the time and when the story becomes predictable.
Honestly, these authors need to get new writing material because everything is the same shit now.
honestly fair point LOL but I eat this shit up! I cant wait to see Mincheol grovel a quite bit to regain her trust after this lil stunt he just pulled. I think this webtoon stands out bc it’s explicit and has smut, otherwise it is very similar to your standard childhood besties to lovers tropes.
